What we do with your information

Your first name, a phone number or email address if you choose to leave one, and what you would like prayer for. Only the first name and the request itself are required. There are two of these forms, one on the prayer page and one on the front page, and they work the same way.

Your name and email address, how you heard about us, and anything else you want to add. We use it to answer you and to look out for you on Sunday.

That form also runs Google’s reCAPTCHA, which is a spam check. It watches how the page is used to decide you are a person and not a machine, and it reports that to Google.

This website lets you make an account. If you do, Squarespace — the company the site is built on — holds your name, your email address and your password. We can see that an account exists. We never see the password.

There is a shop page on this site with nothing for sale in it today. If we ever put something there, Squarespace takes the order and handles the payment. Your card number goes to them and their payment company. It does not come to the church, and we do not store it.

You cannot give money through this website yet. When you can, a company called Tithely will run it under its own privacy policy, and your card or bank details will go to them. We will still not see or keep your card number.

If you email the church or leave a message, we keep what you sent so we can answer it and remember the conversation.

Counts visits: which pages get opened, for how long, on what kind of device, and roughly what part of the world you are in. It does not know your name. It stores a small file, a cookie, in your browser.

The church runs search ads. This tag tells Google when one of those ads brought somebody here. It also builds a list of people who have visited this site, which Google can use to show our ads to those same people again on other websites. That second part is called remarketing, and it is switched on today.

This website is built on Squarespace. They keep their own count of visits, and they hold everything sent through a form on this site, every order from the shop, and every account.

Our videos are played from YouTube, which Google owns. On some pages that lets Google see you opened the page even if you never press play.

Some of the type on this site is delivered by Adobe, so your browser has to ask Adobe for it. Adobe sees that request.

This is the part most websites are quiet about, so we will not be. Right now this website does not ask your permission first. There is no banner, and no accept or refuse button. Everything above starts the moment a page opens.

Your browser can block cookies. Look for “Privacy” or “Cookies” in its settings. Google also has two pages of its own: one that controls what its ads know about you, and one that switches off Google Analytics everywhere you go.

Each of these companies has its own privacy policy, and ours cannot speak for theirs.

Ask what we hold about you and we will tell you.

Tell us what is wrong and we will correct it.

Ask us to delete what we hold about you and we will. The one thing we would have to keep is a record of money you have given, because a church has to account for its gifts.

You may have read about privacy laws that give people a list of rights. Some of those laws are written for large companies and may not cover a church this size. We are not going to argue about which ones apply. Ask, and we will do it.

If this website is ever broken into and information about you is taken, we will tell the people affected, and we will say plainly what happened.

There is no mailing list running from this website. If we ever start one, you will have to join it on purpose, and every message will have a way out of it.
