He told me years ago. He said:

  1. Day 10 · Grace

    A Molecule Is Enough

    The Lord said to me one day, I’m giving you My power and molecules of grace. I looked at the word molecule, and it didn’t look like it meant very much. You know, I think a molecule can fit on the head of a pin.

    And when I got to thinking about it, you know, a molecule of His power would be enough to do whatever you have to do, especially if it’s wrapped up in grace.

    If grace and the power of God’s working at the same time, there’s not anything you can’t do. There’s not anything you can’t face. And the more you use it — Paul said He increases the grace according to what you’re doing, according to the standard that you have, according to what you are designed to do.

    So grace can be multiplied. Grace and peace, too, is multiplied to you. The more you use it, the more you have. The more you use it, the more you need it. The more you use it, the more you depend on it.

    And everything you do is wrapped up in that grace towards every single person.

  2. Day 215 · Humility

    Ain’t No Naturally Humble People

    Humility is so powerful. Pride — listen — pride can’t stay in the same room with humility. Humility overcomes pride every time.

    And every time anyone acts in humility, in any situation, they always win. That’s how powerful it is.

    Well, I know faith is powerful, and I know love’s powerful, and I know all that. But I have never thought about how powerful humility is.

    It is the crusher of your pride. We’re not born with it.

    Well, some people, you know, they’re just naturally humble.

    No. Ain’t no naturally humble people.

    You know what you’re seeing? You’re seeing bashful people. You’re seeing people that are ashamed. You’re seeing people that’s been beat down.

    Humble people aren’t beat down. They’re raised up.

  3. Day 313 · Purpose

    Very Ordinary Things

    It’s possible to be uncertain about the will of God. James says if you lack wisdom, that you should ask of God. So I always ask of God. But sometimes we pray — listen to me — sometimes we pray for wisdom expecting God to do some kind of extraordinary, astonishing, overwhelming thing that just carries us away with it. And most of the time He just does very ordinary things.

    We have fasted as a church here, expecting God to do supernatural things, and at the end of the fast everybody would say, Well, where’s the smoke? Where’s the glory? Where’s the twinkle? Where is the stuff? Well, you’re breathing it in and out.

    Let me tell you about God. He doesn’t want us to get our mind all wrapped up in miracles. He wants His will and way of life to be a normal, everyday occurrence for us — not needing a miracle every time we turn around. When you need a miracle, it means you’re behind.

    If you’re walking at the pace, you’re moving with Him. He says move — you stay restful. When He says go — you’re still restful. You just do what He says. That’s just ordinary, everyday living for God. No big supernatural thing. No big deal. No big glory balls coming down out of the sky.

Nothing has been written for her

Every word on these pages was spoken aloud by Rev. Linda L. Adkins from the pulpit at Words of Light Church. The passages were transcribed from recordings of her ministry and punctuated for the page; her syntax is as she used it.

She planted the church with her husband Howard in 1982 and has preached from its pulpit for more than four decades. This first edition marks the fortieth anniversary of her ordination.
