“Transformed by the Holy Spirit” Part 2

A weaned child no longer needs its mother’s undivided attention. They are able to maneuver through the day on their own. The same is true with God’s children. With spiritual growth we can keep ourselves calm and out of the grasp of anxieties, fear, and doubt. Our relationship, at this point, is strictly based on our confidence in the word of God. And that gives us the invincible peace of God. Perfect peace in any situations comes for those who keep their mind on God. Nothing is able to penetrate that force field of peace, simply because of the sheer power of this peace to keep us calm every moment. There may be storms brewing around, but within all is calm.

Paul wrote, “For God did not give us the spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” (II Timothy 1:7 Amplified) Most Christians do not possess this kind of demeanor nor are they able to respond with this behavioral balance of self-control. Most are familiar with the scripture, but very few live by the power that is available from it.

Without receiving this word of power, by faith, we are not able to demonstrate self-control, discipline, nor a well-balanced mind, nor are we able to keep ourselves calm.

Self-control keeps us from fleeing in fear or shrinking back in cowardliness, unable to face the situation in which we find ourselves. Many people today, run away from their adversities, instead of facing them calmly with the power He has given to them. Sometimes, all any situation needs is simple communication, which could straighten out the problems that hold us in fear

Amen.
